How I Make $20,000/Month with SaaS (Software as a Service)
These are the steps I followed to build and scale a software (that I coded myself) to $20k MRR.
If you want to learn to code, I made an intro class on Edvanc here:
1. Research
This is probably the most important aspect of building a saas business. If you don't understand your customer or the market, there is no way you will be able to get any customers.
2. Market
There is a solid reason that you want to market BEFORE you build the software. You want to start getting leads as soon as you validate the idea. Even if you end up never launching your software, you now have some contacts you can reach out to for ideas!
3. Build
Protoype and design the user interface first – trust me on this. It's hard enough to figure out the full stack and which framework/coding language to use. Make it easy on yourself and start with drawing out the interface in MS paint. heh.
4. Scale
Content. Marketing…. Build an authority in your niche using a blog and other content as the crutch. If you can make your SaaS brand stand out and show you know your stuff in the market, you will get all the customers.
Do you have any other questions on building a SaaS? Let me know in the comments! 🙂
Video about me losing like $100k on a dev agency:
blog, content marketing is for to scale up business. mind blowing.
When you learned how to code, where did you start? and which route did you take to learn how to code?
SaaS equation: 1% idea, 99% execution
covodo just pick up any of your ideas and start executing it, and remember to look at it as a joyful process. For sure, you will gain a lot of experience and that is the most important thing. If you’re a programmer then you have nothing to lose since you’ll building your application by yourself. Good Luck 🙂
This was amazing, you cleared up so many things for me! Thanks for this.
Came across your channel when I’m planning for a career switch into PM in tech and this is extremely helpful! I definitely think building my own software is the best way to learn & break into the field with zero experience. Thank you for sharing all the helpful tips!
Ok aside from the fluff how much of that 20k revenue is profit… Can’t find a non-click baity genuine 100% transparent YouTuber…
About 12k is profit. Sorry, forgot to mention that in the vid!
Hey Jordan, thanks for providing such valuable content! Would you mind sharing how much your operating costs are % wise? Much love, keep the great work up ?
So refreshing to have someone actually give you tips, great advice, and direct solutions rather than a bunch of BS about signing up for their newsletter and buying their ebook.
Thanks for this awesome advice! Validating your hypothesis is the most important foundational component of starting any business. Building something that no one will use is the worst feeling! Don’t be that person. Validate, validate, validate!
I wish I had an Idea at that moment nothing !
Congrats bro on successful launch and product that makes you money.
Great video! I’m an engineer currently and would love to get into the micro saas space and eventually have something of my own. Looking to do any future collabs?
Thank you for coming back. Love your channel. Hope all is OK.
I know how to code and i just start research about the app I wanna to build
What about building an MVP withing a month or two instead of building the complete software over a 6 month period. Besides the advice is awesome !
